A reminder that on Friday, Sept. 14 there is a scheduled two hour delay for students.  This is a staff development morning for all teachers.  TCCC students will attend school on their regular schedule.

A new school year has now begun and we are excited to welcome all of our Coolville "Cool Kids" back to the classroom, as well as our awesome teachers and staff members!!  Just a few things to remember as we begin the new year:  if you need to pick your child up from school early, or if you have a transportation change for after school, please remember to call Mrs. Janice and let her know!  If you pick your child up on a daily basis, all walkers will be sent to the cafeteria at the end of the day and you must sign them out there!  We do this for the safety of all of our children!!  The school calendar, lunch menus and other important announcements can be found on our website so if there is anything you need, feel free to check us out at If you cannot find the answer to your question on the web, call us at the school!!

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back to a new calendar year and to the second half of the 2017-2018 school year!  We sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful, restful break!  We are ready to tackle the second half of the school year with our students! 


A quick reminder for this winter season:  if the temperature/wind chill factor is 25 degrees or above, we will be taking the children outside for recess.  Therefore, please be sure to send your child to school with a coat, hat and gloves.  If anyone needs assistance with these items, please let us know at school.  We can help!  



No School Fees, Free Lunch and Breakfast, and Free Sporting Events for Students

Once again this year we will not be charging any school fees and students will have access to free lunch and breakfast as well as no charge for FH home sporting events.  Also, students who pack their lunch can have a free milk with their meal.  If you would like to contribute to the district to support this effort, please contact one of our local schools.

Parent Appreciation Dinner - Thanks for all that you do!

Come join us for dinner on Thursday, May 4 from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and find out what we have to offer for your children this summer!  This fabulous dinner will be prepared by our own master chef, Peggy Edwards!  Child care and fun activities are being planned for our students, if you'd like to bring your child with you!


We must have your reservation for dinner no later than Monday, May 1 so that we may plan dinner for you!  Please call Janice at the school and let her know that you're coming and how many people will be in your party!

New Heath Care Clinic and Little Lancer to open in April.  This facility will bring a health care option and early learning facility to all residents of the community.

All of our students start on August 24th except for our Preschool and Kindergarten students.  In order to accommodate their needs at the beginning of the school year we have them come to school in smaller groups.  Their starts dates are as follows:

Preschool - August 24th, 25th and 26th - Home Visits - Students will not attend school

                   August 29th - Students with last names starting with the letters A-L will attend

                   August 30th - Students with last names starting with the letters M-Z will attend

                   September 1st - All Preschool students attend


Kindergarten - August 24th - Students with last name starting with letters A-H will attend

                       August 25th - Students with last name starting with letters J-Z will attend

Cheerleading Tryouts

2016-2017 Cheerleading Tryouts:

I Heart Art: Spring Watercolors!

The third in the "I Heart Art" adult art class series here at Coolville Elementary School is coming up! 


Join us on Monday, April 11th from 6 p.m.. - 7:30 p.m. in Mrs. Phillips' art room for the Spring Watercolors session!

Coolville Elementary School Garden Open House

The Coolville Elementary School Garden serves a wonderful purpose!  Not only does our garden provide home grown vegetables for our Coolville Elementary School families, it also provides for our community, as well!  The students here at Coolville Elementary work very hard to maintain our garden. 


In order to showcase their hard work and dedication, we are hosting an Open House at the Garden on Friday, April 15 from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.  A free snack will be provided, as well as some fun family activities!

As we did miss a snow day prior to January 31st, we will be having school on Friday, Feb. 12, previously scheduled as a holiday.  Students and staff will still have a three day weekend as Monday, Feb. 15 is President's Day.  Our school calendar on the web page reflects this change.

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday break!  The teachers and staff here at Coolville Elementary are ready to begin the second half of the 2015-2016 school year!  We are excited to be back in our classrooms with our students!

Fall Family Event will be on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 10:00AM to 12:00 noon.

For families of Birth to 4 year olds in our school district. To be held at the Federal Hocking Middle School. 25 Activities Table, free food, petting zoo, free books, and the Kona Ice Truck will be here.

The Mobile Immunization Clinic will be here to give shots to Birth to 19. Parents must bring shot records to get free shots.

No Fees, Free Breakfast and Lunch for All

Once again for the 2014-15 school year Federal Hocking Schools will not be charging any school fees.  Additionally, this year we are adding free lunch for all to our already free breakfast program.  We are happy to be able to provide these supports to our families, have a great year!

has been changed to Wednesday, April 2nd, 6:00 P.M., in the HS/MS Auditeria.  Come learn about your future as a middle school student and the courses you will be taking!  You will be filling out your schedule for next year.  Also, you do not want to miss your chance to choose your electives.

Welcome Wagon Event

A Welcome Wagon (birth to 4) event will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Sat., March 15th in the Middle School Commons.  There will be a petting zoo, a bouncy house with slide, free door prizes, 25 tables of activities for children, and the Easter Bunny will pass out free books. Make plans now to join us for a morning of fun!


***Holzer Athens is excited to be able to offer the kids in our community free sports physicals for the 2013-2014 school year. The date for the physicals will be Saturday, August 3rd, 2013. Federal Hocking School System registration will begin at 10:05 AM with physicals to immediately follow. Please go to Holzer Clinic not the school for the physicals.

Please join us on Saturday, December 8 for BREAKFAST WITH SANTA!!!  Breakfast will be served beginning at 9:30 a.m.  On the menu for this day will be pancakes, sausage, eggs and biscuits and gravy!!  This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to spend some time with Santa and even take a selfie!!  There is no charge for this breakfast, however, donations are appreciated!!  If you have any questions, please call the school at 740-667-3121!

Please join us at school for the Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) Book Fair at Coolville Elementary School!  This is the fair that everyone looks forward to because for each book that you purchase, you get a book FREE!  What a perfect way to get new books to read over summer break!  The book fair will run from May 7 through May 11 in the school library!

Calling all incoming Kindergarteners!!!            

We will be holding Kindergarten Registration on Wednesday, April 22 at Coolville Elementary School.  Appointments are now being made so please call us at 740-667-3121 and Mrs. Pullins will set you up!  We have openings from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  You must register your child for Kindergarten even if he or she already attends pre-school!  


One more special event is the "Kindergarten Round-Up" which will be held on Monday, April 20 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. here at Coolville Elementary!  This is a super fun family event!  You and your child will have the opportunity to meet the amazing kindergarten teachers and take a tour of the classrooms!  Please plan to attend!

Our First Book Fair of 2017 will be open for business from Wednesday, October 4 through Friday, October 6!  The book fair will open at 9:30 a.m. each morning and will remain open until 3 p.m.  We will be open during our "Roll Out the Red Carpet for Reading" event on Thursday evening! Coolville Elementary PTO Candy Grams are Coming!!

Once again, the Coolville Elementary School PTO is selling Candy Grams!  Your student may purchase a candy-gram, which will most likely be a large sucker or something of that nature, for 25 cents each.  The students may purchase them for friends and teachers!  The candy grams may be purchased each morning from 9:15 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. beginning on January 30.  The candy grams will be put together for the children by PTO members and will be distributed to each of the homeroom classrooms so that each teacher may distribute them at their convenience.  The candy grams may be purchased from January 30 through February 10!  If you have any questions about the candy grams, please call the school and we will put you in touch with a PTO member!

COSI on Wheels comes to Coolville Elementary!!!

Thanks to the Coolville PTO, we are able to host "COSI on Wheels" in our school this Thursday, April 2!!  Student from each grade level will get to have a "hands-on" experience during the program - Simply Chemistry!  This is going to be a fun-filled, fabulous learning experience for all of our amazing students!!!

Tuesday, November 22 is FAMILY DAY at Coolville Elementary School!!  This is a perfect day for our families to join our students in their classrooms and celebrate our school!  Parents and/or grandparents will have an opportunity to see, firsthand their child's classroom and experience just what we do in our amazing school!!  Information will be coming home with your child about the day's events and what time you should plan to arrive at school on this day!  We hope to see you on Tuesday, November 22!

Lancer Welcome Wagon

The Lancer Welcome Wagon would like to invite you to the Spring Family Event on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 10:00am – 12:00 noon, in the Federal Hocking Middle Schools Commons.  The Easter Bunny will be here to pass out Free Books to the Birth – 4 year olds.  We will have Free Snacks, Door Prizes, Children’s Activities, and a Bounce House…Free Lancer Bags to the first 100 families to come to the event.

     In Mrs. Stalnaker's Title Class, the students learned about creating movable objects.  The project dovetailed into making cars powered by the escaping air from a balloon.  Students were challenged to make improvements with their grandparents and race them during the Grandparent's Day Festivities. 
District Committee Recommends Changes for 2018-19 School Year

For the 2018-19 school year, there will be new start/end times for all FH Students in grades K through 12.  These changes come from recommendations made by a district committee that met this past Spring.

We'd like to extend a big "Thank You" to all of our Coolville families for collecting box tops for our school!!!  So far this year, we've already surpassed the amount of money we earned for all of last year!  Keep collecting those box tops!!  We wanted to let you all know that the deadline for submission of box tops for THIS school year is February 10, 2017.  If you have some that you've been saving, please send them to school before the 10th so that we may receive credit for them!  Keep on clipping as we are always collecting!  Our next submission date will be in October!  If you have any questions about the box tops program, please give us a call at school!  Thanks, again!!

    On Wednesday, March 4th, the Ohio Senate Education Committee appointed a committee to study what should be done about the amount of testing in Ohio.  Here is a report on the formation of that committee, taken from a newsletter that superintendents received March 4, 2015, and what you can do.

 During Mrs. Stalnaker's Title Class, students were given toothpicks and marshmallows and asked to create anything they would like.  Students used the opportunity to create catapults, climbing domes, time machines and triple-decker bridges.

A huge "Thank you" goes out to ALL of our Coolville Elementary School Families for their generous donations to the Pennies for Patients Program!  We set a goal to raise $300, but we actually raised an amazing $1,318!!  We were over $1,000 OVER our GOAL!!!  Coolville is an amazing community!  Thank you, all so very much!!

The Coolville Elementary "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser kicks off on Monday, September 28.  Each child was given a donation box for the collection of pennies!  If your child is participating, please return the collection box to the school by October 9!  Thank you for your generosity!

Our wonderful staff and volunteers helped to make this event a hit with our families!  Thank you!!
