The Ohio State University Alumni Scholars Program

To be eligible the student must:
  •  Accepted to The Ohio State University

Roger Pedigo Memorial Scholarship

  • To provide educational scholarships for selected high school seniors from Athens, Hocking, Vinton, Fairfield and Franklin, Ohio Counties who are furthering their education by attending Ohio University in the manner described below: 
  • Applicants must have maintained a high school G.P.A. of 3.0 or above 
  • Applicants must possess leadership skills and have participated in community service work

Molly Ann Clark Scholarship

  • Past participants (racers) of the Lancaster Soap Box Derby, past derby queens or have had a family that either volunteered or served on the board of directors of the Lancaster Soap Box Derby
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 17-21  
  • Applicants must be from Fairfield, Perry, Pickaway, Hocking, Licking, Athens or Muskingum counties in Ohio  
  •  Must demonstrate an interest in community service and volunteerism 
  • Applicants meeting the above criteria will be given preference in determining recipients, or a student seeking a degree in substance abuse education may be accepted every even year

Must submit an artist bio and a piece of the student's work with an original concept

Congressman Steve Stivers U.S. Service Academy Nomination

  • Applicants must be 17 years old
  • Must be residents of the 15th Congressional District (Athens, Clinton, Fairfield, Hocking, Madison, Morgan, Perry, Pickaway, and Vinton)
  • Applicants should apply to Congressman Stivers in the spring of their junior year
  • You must first complete the Application Request Form on Congressman Stivers' website. Deadline for submitting the request is early September.
  • After the request has been sent, the Nomination Application will be sent via e-mail beginning in May.

 

OSBA Black Caucus of School Board Members Leo Lucas Scholarship

  • Must be African-American
  • Show proof of acceptance to an accredited college/university
  • Must have GPA of 2.5 or higher

Atomic Credit Union Scholarship

  • 15 scholarships in the amount of $500.00
  • Must be a graduating senior
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPS
  • Must be a member of the Atomic Credit Union

IBI Group Scholarship Fund

  • Students from all career fields are eligible but emphasis will be given to students who are interested in civil engineering

Union Plus Scholarship

  • Scholarships for family of union members.
  • The applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate who is or whose parent, legal guardian or financially responsible grandparent is a current or retired member of a union and participates in a Union Plus program. Samsung American Legion Scholarship

 
  • Scholarships for high school juniors who attend the current session of either The American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State program and are a direct descendant or a legally adopted child of a wartime veteran who served on active duty during at least one of the periods of war officially designated as eligibility dates for American Legion membership. 
  • Scholarship is for undergraduate study only and may be used for tuition, books, fees, and room and board.

Ben Manley Scholarship

  • The Ben Manley Scholarship is for children or grandchildren of Ohio Department of Transportation employees residing in Ohio Tenth Congressional District (Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Morgan, Munroe, Noble, Vinton and Washington Counties).
  • Selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.
  • Applications are available from the District 10 ODOT office in Marietta.
  • This scholarship is restricted to students attending Ohio University.

Athens Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship

  • Scholarship is open to Athens County high school seniors who plan a career in agriculture and/or natural resources.
  • Beginning December 1, applications are available from Mrs. Buchman or in the Athens Soil and Water Conservation office.

Athens Rotary-Lawrence Worstell Scholarship

  • Scholarship open to Athens County high school seniors who demonstrate financial need, character and academic promise to qualify for this award, and will attend Ohio University. To be considered, you must be nominated by the Athens Rotary Club.

Athens Masonic Scholarship

  • Scholarship available to those who have a father, grandfather or brother who is a member of one of the Athens Masonic Bodies, or are a member of the Athens Assembly Order of Rainbow for Girls or Athens DeMolay. American Veterans (AMVETS) Scholarship

  • Local scholarships for Ohio high school seniors are available from Post 53 (Chauncey), Post 76 (Athens), Post 93 (Albany), and their Ladies Auxiliaries.  Applicants must be children or grandchildren of US military families.

      * Fitzy and Coe Scholarship (Post 93 Ladies Auxiliary) is available to children or grandchildren of US veterans'                    organization members, who maintain at least a 3.0+ GPA, demonstrate academic promise, and are US citizens. 
      *   Howard Latz Memorial Scholarship (Post 76) is available to Athens County high school seniors based on academic         achievement.
      *   James R. Hartley Memorial Scholarship (Post 76) is available to students who will be attending Hocking College.
      *   Marilyn Dailey Memorial Scholarship (Post 76) is available to Athens County high school graduates, family                         members of an Athens County Auxiliary member (Posts 53, 76, and 93).

 

 

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

  • Scholarships for children of active duty military, Guard, or Reserve who were federalized and died on active duty after September 11, 2001. The applicant must be a high school senior or high school graduate. Scholarship is for undergraduate study at an accredited institution of higher education within the United States. Applications may be downloaded from website; scholarship recipients may re-apply for the award.

  • Ten scholarships for family of AFSCME members. Ohio Township Association

  • Three scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each.
  • There are two categories: Local Government Achievement and Academic Achievement.
  • You must be able to demonstrate outstanding citizenship through service and participation in community activities to be eligible for the Local Goverenment Achievement Scholarship.
  • To apply for the Academic Achievement Scholarship, you must have a B average (cumulative) and at least a 22 ACT or 1000 SAT score.
  • Students must live in an Ohio township and plan to attend a two or four-year Ohio college or university in the fall of 2019.

Foodland Scholarship Program

  • A $1000 scholarship will be awarded from each local Foodland to a high school senior in their area. 
  • Applications are available in the customer service offices in Foodland stores.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

  • Students who have taken part in community service activities over the past year are invited to fill out an online application at http://spirit.prudential.com
  •  Once the application is completed, it needs to be submitted to Mrs. Buchman by November. By submitting your application, students have the opportunity to win an unrestricted award of $1,000 or more.

 

The Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Students in the graduating class of 2019, who are committed to a 4-year degree, that are in critical financial need and are involved in co-curricular and community activities are encouraged to apply.
  • Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0.

Free Speech Essay Contest

  • High school juniors and seniors for the current school year are eligible to participate.
