The Use of Time Committee was formed in March of 2017 and is comprised of parents, students, teachers, administrators, and staff of the Federal Hocking School District. The Superintendent's charge of the committee was as follows:
- Review the research around appropriate starting and ending times for students of different ages.
- Review the research around the benefits/challenges of providing building wide planning time for teachers.
- Make recommendations for changes to the current operating schedules in the district, if any, based on your research and discussions.
- Recommend any additional considerations around the use of time based on the discussions you have.

The recommendations from the Committee are to begin in the 2018-19 school year. In November, in preparation for the 2018-19 school year, there will be a series of PTO/Academic Booster Meetings where parents can provide feedback and insight so that there is as seamless a transition as possible for families. Those meeting dates and times will be posted in the next few weeks.
