Empty Bowls Raises Money for Athens County Food Pantry

During our January All-School Meeting, students presented Mr. Frank Hare, representative from the Athens County Food Pantry, with a donation of $1,000.  This money was raised during our second annual Empty Bowls event where students in K-6th Grade created pottery bowls and teacups to sell.  Thank you to our art teacher, Ms. Pearce, and our guidance counselor, Ms. Jamie, for all their work in helping students to create these works of art and for organizing this event.  We are very proud of our students for their service to others in our community and around the world!

Calendar Change, Feb. 12 Now a School Day

As we did miss a snow day prior to January 31st, we will be having school on Friday, Feb. 12, previously scheduled as a holiday.  Students and staff will still have a three day weekend as Monday, Feb. 15 is President's Day.  Our school calendar on the web page reflects this change.

Reading with Ms. Deb

At Amesville, READING and hearing stories are important parts of everyone's day!  Ms. Deb, from Athens County Public Libraries, visits our pre-school rooms often.  Recently students in Mrs. Miller's class retold Jan Brett's story of The Mitten by using a VERY large mitten and pretending to be the animals from the story.  Can you guess what happened once the mitten was full but a small mouse creeped in and tickled the bear's nose?  Ah...ah...ah...chooo!
