Greetings, Amesville Caregivers and Students! Due to a recent increase in the number of students testing positive for COVID-19 and the number of students being quarantined, the decision was made to do a two week school closure. This decision was made based on a recommendation from the Athens City-County Health Department. While this creates a difficult situation for families, we do believe it is the safest and healthiest plan for our students.
The school closure will be in effect from Tuesday, September 7th - Friday, September 17th. We will return to in person learning on Monday, September 20th.
During the two week school closure, we will be providing remote learning work and food for Amesville Elementary students. Staff members are preparing school work that is meaningful and will help to keep students engaged in learning while away from school. Staff members will be communicating with caregivers and students during the closure to hear about progress and answer any questions you may have about remote learning.
Remote learning work and food will be available for pick up on Thursday, September 9th. There are several options for picking up remote learning work and food. You will need to use the survey linked below to let us know where you will be picking up your students' remote learning work.
You can pick items up at the following locations:
Amesville Elementary--Thursday, September 9th from 10:00-5:30 or Friday, September 10th from 9:00-4:00
Gilchrist BP in Sharpsburg--Thursday, September 9th from 11:00-1:00
Federal Valley Resource Center--Thursday, September 9th from 11:00-1:00
Hope Drive--Thursday, September 9th from 12:00-1:00
If your student has a sibling that attends the middle school/high school building, school work can be sent home with the sibling on Friday, September 10th. Remote learning work only can be sent home with an older sibling.
In order to ensure your students’ work is at the correct location, please make sure to fill out the following survey by 4:30 on Wednesday, September 8th. If you are unable to complete the survey that date and time, you will need to pick your students' remote learning work up at Amesville Elementary.
