All three Federal Hocking campuses recieved Platinum designation from the Ohio Department of Education and the School Breakfast Challenge for outstanding participation in the school breakfast program. Only 62 schools state wide received such designations of the 450 schools that entered.
"We work hard to provide every student a healthy breakfast to start the day," noted Superintendent George Wood. "This year we added additional cooks at our elementary schools so we could offer more home made and healthier food. We know we can still improve, but I am proud of the work of our kitchen staff."
The benefits of breakfast are well known; studeis show that students that eat breakfast have better concentration, better attendance, and are more likely to have improved nutrition.
